Quoting a comment that I posted here...
"Sometimes, it is important to listen to life and not understand it, as if it were talking to a baby who didn't know the language and had no clue about what was being said to it."
There's something about this thought that wants me to hold on to it, hence posting it here.
I wonder how many of us remember the days when we made "pen-friends." Days, when Children's World would have set of pages dedicated to befriending strangers, when all you knew about them was their age, their address and their primary hobbies.
I remembered my one and only pen-friend today, Nithya Rajendran (hope I got the name right), to whom I had written to when I was in grade IV. She was based in Bangalore then, and was in grade VI. We had exchanged quite a few letters over the summer of 1994, and I remember writing to her about a stupid visit to Qutub Minar. She used to learn Veena at that time. We had written about school, about friends, about hide-and-seek, and about the poems and comics we enjoyed reading. I have no idea where you are Nithya, but I hope you're doing well in life, and that some corner of your heart still remembers me.
The Internet has added a new dimension to the idea of pen-friends. WG asked me how we can identify with each other's writings without even knowing each other. I don't know how. All I can say is that each one of us deep down has some feelings that we could not convey, some dreams that we could not fulfill, and some hopes that have been dashed. So we aren't exactly strangers anymore, you know.

accept it or not, the blog gives you a reasonable number of pen-friends...
Sweet memories:)
But in this era, I somehow feel that pen friends is a very romantic concept that mostly gets shattered with the harsh realities of the world. I somehow feel that it is bound to hurt in someway when you don't live the reality of the other person for even a day.
I agree. I have so many precious blog friends and email-friends (who mostly read the blog) and I wouldnt give them up for the world. Those, and the strangers I meet sometimes and have the best conversations with!
Tapasya, you did answer the question..but it was more of a rhetoric than a question...Thanks anyways.
@Phoneix: Super like your comment and agree with it too.
This post reminds me my one and only pen friend too... We, however, met in a conference when we were in class 10th. We exchanged letters for about a year and a half... It was a fab frenship, from discussing our joys and sorrows to interests and what not! Hope she is doing well too!! Love your posts! :)
